Hi, I’m Janire — fully qualified Mountain Leader, certified in outdoor first aid, and the travel-obsessed soul behind Ray of Sun Adventures.

With 35 countries explored (and a travel wish list that never stops growing), I’m all about adrenaline-fuelled adventures, soul-stirring landscapes, and getting gloriously muddy in the great outdoors. Whether it’s trekking across UK hills or chasing sunsets in far-flung places, I’m happiest with a backpack on and the open road (or trail) ahead.

Now, let me tell you about the trip that changed everything...

My all-time favourite adventure? Fresh out of uni, my best friend Sarah and I headed on a two-month overlanding and wild camping epic through Africa — and I do not use the word “epic” lightly. We’re talking white-water rafting down the mighty Zambezi River, bungee jumping next to the thundering Victoria Falls, and waking up to hyenas laughing outside our tents in the Okavango Delta. I’ve slept under stars so bright it felt like another planet and had moments so humbling they’re etched on my heart forever. That journey lit a fire in me — the wildness, the raw beauty, the sheer unpredictability of it — and it’s been fuelling my wanderlust ever since.

When I’m not off adventuring abroad, you’ll find me exploring the UK's incredible trails, leading inclusive group hikes, or planning bespoke mountain days for anyone who wants a little guidance (or just some good company and snacks with a view).
