As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, this special hike takes us through the heart of Ironbridge Gorge, a place where innovation shaped the world and nature continues to inspire. We’ll begin at the iconic Iron Bridge, a pioneering marvel built in 1779—the first iron bridge in the world! Standing proudly over the River Severn, it’s a symbol of bold ideas and groundbreaking achievements, much like the incredible women we’re celebrating this month. We’ll also stop by the original toll house, where we can learn more about the bridge’s history and impact.
From there, we’ll follow scenic woodland trails to Ironbridge Coalport and the Bedlam Furnaces, once roaring with the heat of the Industrial Revolution. While these sites tell a story of progress and change, the surrounding landscapes offer a peaceful contrast—rolling hills, riverside paths, and beautiful views at every turn.
