About the event

Join us on Monday, 7th April 2025, for an evening hike up Breidden Hill! This sunset adventure is the perfect opportunity to explore a fascinating historic site while enjoying breathtaking views over the Anglo-Welsh border and watch the stars come out!

Breidden Hill is an extinct volcano standing at 367m, just outside the town of Welshpool. The summit is home to the remains of a British Iron Age hillfort, believed to be the last stand of Caractacus. At the very top, you'll find Rodney’s Pillar, a striking monument built by the people of Montgomeryshire who supplied oak for Admiral Rodney’s naval fleet. Today, the pillar serves as a landmark visible for miles around and even aids helicopter navigation!
